Keeping Up: EdWeek E-Blasts
It took me about an hour to go through all the relevant articles and resources that came to my email today from Education Week. I hope this doesn't keep happening...
It's important to stay abreast of what's happening, of course, and helpful to rely on a publication to do the initial searching and sifting. Before the blogosphere, I would just pick one or two sources and read every issue (it was Education Week and ESchoolNews back then, I think).
Now, I've learned to use RSS readers (was iGoogle, now Thunderbird) to pull in blog feed streams, occasionally dipping in, and unsubscribing from individual streams that get stale. And I allow it to okay if I don't do this daily.
But now, having recently reconnected with Education Week's online feeds, I'm overwhelmed by the volume of timely information just about online professional development and professional learning communities. It feels more important to keep up with than the blog RSS.
I've got to get to some time-sensitive, production-required work now...I'm using this blog to remind myself to get back to what's below, none of which I've read yet.
